Sweeping all awards it was nominated for?

Exactly. But, they didn't figure that'd be fair to Titanic, so they took it out and let Titanic get the 11 Oscars.

Well yeah, poor James Cameron and Titanic.

Well, it was either the cinematic genius of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation or the cash cow Titanic.
In Hollywood, money beats creativity every time...

Most of the Resident Evil films suck a big one also. Really? I think they're all pretty awesome. Especially the first two.

I do. To me, they don't represent anything to do with the Resident Evil games. The games are/were about creepy atmosphere and nice set-ups. The films are just loud, boring and kind of dumb. Though both the films and the games have bad acting. I guess that part of the game transitioned well to the films.

Yeah I agree with you to a point.
The movies are action/slasher while the games were survival. Alice savess the day over and over with her super powers while the "real" characters from the games are always in trouble.
In a way they're more like RE5 which I didn't really like.
But Milla makes all that irrelevant ;D
Oh and Nemesis was awesome. Could have done without the comic relief token black guy though.

See, I don't think I would mind the films as much if they were called anything but, "Resident Evil". When I watch the movies, I really don't even get a hint that they are based on the video games. If they were known as something else, I still wouldn't like them, probably, but they would be less infuriating to me as they would just be an action/zombie franchise instead of using a renowned name that I enjoy, but that they don't respect.

There's plenty. Especially in the first two.
The mansion, the chequered floor, the hive, the dogs, Nemesis, and a quite a few scenes that are nods to the games.

But, that's where I get into the problem. As opposed to feeling like part of the story, it feels more like they were tacked on with them saying, "Hey, look, this is Resident Evil!"
I would have to agree that, to me, it feels nothing like the games. Kind of like when they did Max Payne. All these cheap nods to the game but the movie was nothing like it.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't have to be a step-for-step version of the video games, but when there are only vague hints that it is based on a game series I enjoy, it is bad. If I watched the films, not knowing they were based on the RE games, it wouldn't be an automatic acknowledgement that it is based on the RE games.

Ok then, moving on.
Hitman? I'm in two minds about that.
It looks like Hitman but why did they change the backstory to the kids being orphans trained to be hitmen?
And why och why did they choose Tim Olyphant for the lead? While a great actor he looks nothing like the rugged, chisel jawed character from the games.
The fight scene in the trainstation was cool though.
