We're talking old school black and white classics, noir, musicals and the rise of the director master class. What's your favorites spanning from the beginning of time through 1979?

Hmm, this one's a little more difficult for me. A few off hand that I enjoy are The French Connection, Jaws, Alien, Taxi Driver and Casablanca. I will have to think a lot more about this one.
