Horror master John Carpenter's take on a kung-fu/action/horror/comedy film. And somehow it balances all of those genres so perfectly. Kurt Russell stars as Jack Burton: the "hero", Though, he is played more as the sidekick to his friend, Wang. If you haven't seen this film, what is wrong with you? You must see it. It blends multiple genres together to create a wacky film that cannot be described in text. It has plenty of martial arts, black blood of the earth, Henry Swanson, an eyeball creature, the Pork Chop Express and a man who commits suicide by making himself explode. Plus it has one of the best roles ever produced from Kurt Russell. Here's a photo from the set. It's amazing.

Is the set design better than Alternate 1985 in "Back to the Future Part II"? They only came out one year apart (granted, BTTF had a much higher budget, but set design is all practical, which is more Carp's style)...

The set design for BTTF 2 was different. Their job was to take a set we know and love and completely make it uber wacky to fit the wacky characters, that we know and love. I'd probably have to go BTTF 2, but this film is awesome.

An amazing mix of all types of film genres. Plus it was a time when The Hair and John Carpenter were firing on all cylinders.
