Wow wow wow wow. Just watched it last night. Ok where do I start? Well, I'm a HUGE TinTin fan. Well no I USED TO BE a huge TinTin fan.... errr... about 20+ years ago. I used to read the full-length comic book adventures of the strange little boy, his rather intelligent dog and the drunken seacaptain. Now, I hadn't really seen much in the way of previews of this movie, but I liked what I had seen. So last night we sat down with a jazz cigarette and put the movie on. What can I say? I love it. It's awesome. It's great. It's everything I hoped it would be and then some. Right from the silhouette intro I felt that it was gonna be good. It brought back lots of memories of the comics, and while it was probably the obvious thing to do, it worked. The movie itself wasn't over the top, and it really felt like the old comics. It wasn't too "shiny" and I think they got all the characters, and indeed voices, spot on. I should add that I have never seen any of the old cartoons. *some time later* I can't really think of much to say about this movie other than I loved it and it felt.... right. People who didn't read the old comics or watch the old cartoons might not get much from it though.... Dunno.

I heard about this but didn't see it advertised for the cinema for anything like that. It is something I would certainly want to watch and will try to do in the next few days. Are there any other films like this worth watching?

I haven't actually seen a Spielberg movie since "Crystal Skull" and I haven't seen one I sort of wanted to watch since "War of the Worlds" and I haven't liked one since "Minority Report".
Spielberg never really did it for me. I mean, he's a good director who believes in a great spectacle, but he tends to find the worst writers to do those scripts. Maybe it's because David Koepp wrote four Spielberg movies since 1993. Not one of them was an actual good movie.

I didn't even know it was Spielberg to be honest.
That doesn't bode well.

Are there any other films like this worth watching? Yes. If you haven't seen it, check out "9"Started out as a movie student project and then got picked up by some studio/production company and I think Tim Burton got involved as well. It's very cute and a bit dark but very different from your usual Pixar/Dreamworks/Blue Sky animated films. Post-apocalyptic story about some strange little robot type gizmos left behind by an inventor.

That film sounds absolutely awesome. My cup of tea to be sure.
That little guy on the picture is too damn sweet.
