*Possible spoilers for game and films mentioned* There is no doubt that all media and entertainment borrow from each other, but I find that aspects of rdr show more than an influence based on a number of classic westerns. Since I just wrote a post about Clint films I will start with those, and see what people think: Chuparosa is the splitting image of the town in A fistful of dollars, it is exactly the same. The outlaw Josey Wales - the final shootout 'And the last enemy shall be destroyed' and the American Army seeking out Josey at the end of the film. Crossing the river with Irish and the character of Seth - exactly as we see it in, once again, the outlaw Josey Wales - from the characters to the setting. Anyone got any others before I carry on?! Pale Rider:

Flashes, Flashes, Flashes.
This thread, honestly, is redundant. In a friendly way, though.
It's a game written by Dan Houser (who's a pop culture whore) and produced by Rockstar Games. Almost every one of their games contains about 1,000 references to other things. He's basically the Tarantino of video games (not necessarily a good thing...) and you can tell by looking at all the ones he's done.
That's not to say that they're not good but there is not one second of the story that's original in its idea. The execution features lots of originality which is why Rockstar became so popular.
On an on-topic note, it's incredible how closely those two pictures resemble each other... Lol.

You cut me deep, Blonde, you cut me real deep.
While I am aware of the multitude of references, I basically wanted to discuss rdr and bring it into line with the movie base of the forum. And what happens, I am victimised, deemed redundant.
JK - your post made me smile. Even in criticism you are so nice!

Isn't that what I'm all about? =)
I'm sure there was a bunch of "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" in there...

I think it probably is what you are all about - shrewd; you make people put themselves in their place through the power of objectivity and guidance.

"Believe it or not... I like people." - George Carlin
But, not shrewd. I don't know how to describe me. Maybe bitter, but with a so-sweet-your-teeth-will-rot side, also and definitely too much free time to be reading about bad stuff...
But, Flashes strikes me as "Buttercup" from "The Powerpuff Girls". She was the best. Her and Bubbles.

I don't know what the powerpuff girls are, and I don't think I want to know truth be told. Is it porn?

I googled it, I see I am the toughest fighter, not the leader or the laughter.
Viper, I am seeing a whole new side of you - discussing the powerpuff girls, liking things...

I'm not the only one in my family who likes the Powerpuff Girls...
And, yes, you are. You're perfect for Buttercup.
And, I don't like to be a cardboard cut-out. I'm a 3-dimensional character with depth, emotion and I'm going for a Best Actor nod. =)
