As we had major topics about The Walking Dead prior, I find it surprising that we haven't created a thread yet for it! Well, time to start it.
As season 2 is over, what are people's thoughts so far on the show? Where do you think it will go and how will the first official post-Darabont season go?

Well, half a season... The first half doesn't count because it was making a new thing out of something already planned.
The second half of season 2 was better than the first half. Better being an objective word, as it was more interesting, but the writing hadn't actually improved.
Season 1 (which I liked from the beginning) is still much better by comparison but season 3's going to be the real test...

Season two started and ended strongly however there were some god awful episodes in between like Secrets and Nebraska
I can't say I am worried about season three in terms of quality though although it will be interesting to see just how long a run the show gets (my guess isn't very)

Neenee, you didn't like Nebraska?! I thought Rick was a total badass which was cool to see.
I loved both seasons, for different reasons (ha! I'm a poet and didn't even know it) and I think S3 is gonna be awesome. I can't wait to see how the prison materializes on-screen, and how Michonne fits into the picture... and the return of Merle is going to be VERY interesting.
I am re-watching S1 and it really is a different animal than S2... I really like Glen Mazzara and am excited to see what noise and funk they bring this season.

I thought Nebraska was an awful episode!
It came straight after the barn shoot out and the long hiatus but it was nothing more than a filler episode.
The Walking Dead has this awful habit of giving us filler scenes which only moves the plot forward after the final ad break.
I also think that TWD got the mix of action/quiet completely wrong in certain episodes and Nebraska is one which sticks in my mind.
I agree Rick at the end of the episode was fantastic to watch but it's the 30mins or so of nothing we have to sit through to get there which annoyed me!

I have to agree about "Nebraska". The episode was very weak until the final scene. For the most part, the writing in that scene was quite good and I liked the way it was shot.

Anyone have any thoughts on how Merle will fit into the new season? Do you think he's changed at all? Where's he been & who's he been with/who's he with now?
How do you think the group (Daryl in particular) will react to the introduction of Michonne? I mention Daryl because he is the resident bad ass and he might feel threatened by her?
And finally... would anyone else like to see Carol get her face chewed on by a zombie?

I think he'll be back with The Governor's group but that's not his character's style. After what happened, he'd be kicking ass on his own and not be joining up with anybody. We'll see how they solve that writing.
I think he'll revert back to hanging out in the back. He'll be killing zambehs and stuff but I don't think he'll be in the forefront again for a little while.
No, but I would like to see her cuts her wrists or try and hang herself from a tree... *wink wink*

I suppose it wouldn't be that much of a surprise but I don't have much faith for season 3. Michonne and The Governor were the wrong idea to bring into the show. They're both too way over the top and I think it's a mistake.

I still stand by my logic of them skipping the prison/Woodbury thing entirely and just going in their own direction.

I still love the show. It's still one of my all time favorites. As far as the quality, I think it's pretty consistent. The first episode of the first season was outstanding, but the rest are at the same level; not very deep but very entertaining.
I think the pace dragged at the farm in the second season, not because they were in one location, but they didn't make more exciting use to the story. But I was still entertained. I love zombies. This show gives me zombies. Lol

I bought the 2nd season on blu-ray this past week and like before ... I just cannot get into this season ... Alot of irratating little things like the overbundance of Norman Reedus, Now i know that all the ladies like the guy but for god sakes when he has a walker on him while he is knocked out all the fucking walker can do is bite his shoe? that is fucking bullshit and now a story about survivors led by Rick has become the Daryl show...His character was great in the 1st season, twas a mystery and no one knew nothing about him except his brother was Merle but now they seem to turn the whole show on his shoulders and it is just crap...sorry i am through ranting.. and why don't he ever open his eyes? is the sun always up? is that why he squints all the time?

I enjoyed it a little bit better the second time around, just like season 1 and I think I know why. See, I had expectations and they were broken by the first viewing where the writing was really bad. So, I re-watched it with lower expectations and knowing that the writing wasn't good and enjoyed it as popcorn. Try giving that a shot, John. =)
