The new film from Quentin Tarantino, "Django Unchained", opens in the States on Christmas Day. Not a lot is known about the movie yet.
Jamie Foxx, playing Django, is a freed slave in the south who attempts to rescue his slave wife, Broomhilda. If I am wrong about the premise, please feel free to correct me.
What has me most interested is the cast. Besides Jamie Foxx, you got Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Sasha Baron Cohen, Don Johnson, M.C. Gainey, James Remar, Joseph Gordon-Levit and Kurt Fucking Russell, among others.
With this being a Tarantino film, the plot will obviously not be as simple as it is made out to be. DiCaprio plays the bad guy, Calvin Candie while Christoph Waltz reportedly will play a German bounty hunter who teams up with Django.
Anyway, this is a film I really am interested in. Anyone else got some thoughts on this one?

If you'd have read the script (despite Tarantino and his awful actual writing abilities), you'd know what to expect already. Lol.
All I have to say, though, is that Tarantino + The Hair are batting 1.000 lifetime, so I have nothing at all to be worried about.
I plan to see it this year as opposed to counting it towards next year's total, hopefully. =)

I dont usually read scripts for upcoming films, plus I probably wouldnt be able to make it through all the grammatical errors.

Or the bad formatting (which there was quite a bit of)... It officially proves that story (and name brands) matters more than structure, overall...

As long as you direct your own script, you can format it how you like.

And apparently Joseph Gordon-Levitt has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Not sure if it's good, but after his turn in Inception, I was starting to enjoy him as an actor.

How do you end up with a scheduling conflict after you've already signed a contract? It's not like the fact that he was cast in this was a mystery or anything... It didn't just pop out of nowhere.
I wonder who's going to replace him.

It conflicted with JGL's directorial debut. Maybe he hadn't signed a contract yet? Not sure how he would have fit in a Tarantino film.

I know the ways to your heart. It's the same path to mine. Hence why I will be at the theater when this film opens.

And the plot synopsis:
"Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles - dead or alive. Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South's most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django andSchultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival... Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures."

However, there's still no Sally Menke. I'm sure I'll probably like it when I see it, but like most of his last few things that were made (minus Death Proof/Grindhouse), I'm not exactly sure what to think of it.

It obviously will not be exactly as described, like Inglorious Bastards.
