Long story short, this film has been in production since 2007. To this point, it has gone through three different screenwriters; J.Michael Straczynski, Matthew Michael Carnahan and Damon Lindelof. Marc Forster, to date, is still attached to direct.
Recently, they brought Lindelof in to re-write the third act and they have returned to Glasgow for seven weeks of additional filming.
The film original release date was scheduled to be December 21st, 2012 but they pushed it back to June 21st, 2013.

I want a feature-length documentary about the making of this film. There have been so many problems that i am sure that the finished film will be nowhere near as interesting as the making of it.

This movie absolutely breaks my heart. They deviated from the book far too much and they couldn't even get that right what with all the delays, reshoots and endless rewrites. Not a Mark Forster fan to begin with but I will hate him for ruining WWZ. It was a dodgy one to bring to the big screen anyway but to feck it up so badly is appalling. You have to wonder though, with the success of The Walking Dead, are zombie films like this redundant now as you can do so much more in thirteen episodes than you can in 90mins.

They both work - I will have a nosey through them!
Did they ever confirm the rating? I think I can remember it being rumoured as PG-13/12A
It's a brilliant book which is genuinely scary and emotional in places. I would rather they just gave up than ruined the reputation of a good book

It will be PG-13. The zombies will be runners. It takes place during World War Z... Those are all (currently) confirmed facts, but are semi-subject to change.

I don't mind running zombies but one of the key themes in WWZ was their unwavering and slow paced relentlessness.

My biggest problem is it taking place during the war. It's... kind of hard to get people's war stories while the war is going on. You know, especially since a report on the war won't be feasible until the war itself is over.
But, that's a small, plot hole. I'm sure the movie will be great.

Well, look at it this way. It would only take about another 5-6 years for zambehs to come back again. The zambehs never seem to disappear. =)

LOL - It's like they are trying to make the WWZ Max Brooks never wrote.

They had a perfectly serviceable draft of the script but they said, "No! Fuck you! I don't want it to be that Goddamn convenient!"
Actually, I was just quoting Lewis Black, but it's true. They literally did everything they could to make it not like the book.
One of my favorite (sarcasm) changes they made is that they made the zambehs into runners so they'll be threatening because in the book, the zambehs were never a large threat. It was the government covering things up that caused it to get out of hand. By making them runners, you can virtually guarantee all the political undertones are gone.
