Been wanting to see this for a while now and last night it all came together.
Ok so it's Nicholas Cage doing what Nicholas Cage does.
Driving muscle cars (which are sometimes on fire) shooting bullets at the camera in slow motion whilst jumping through the air.
It's what we expect from Nichoals Cage
It's what we WANT from Nicholas Cage.
He should be bleeding, angry, tired and on a revenge mission.
Preferably walking away from an exploding vehicle in slow motion.
Which he does in this movie.
Stop giving him roles where he has to be serious.
THIS is what he is best at.
All that said it's impossible to watch a Nic Cage movie without thinking about who could do it better, and then coming to the conclusion that maybe nobody can....
So.
I didn't know a lot about this before watching it other than it had fast cars, Nic Cage and William Fichtner as some sort of devil or devil's messenger.
Fichtner is awesome as always and Hollywood REALLY needs to give this guy some more leading roles.
His screen prescense is massive, and he has this Christopher Walken/Clint Eastwood thing going on.
So for the first part of the movie it's not really clear what the hell is going on, but it's explained as it goes on and while the plot isn't that original, or even clever, it doesn't matter.
Cars, shotguns and one-liners are coming at you left right and centre and it's a good fun movie that doesn't really slow down from start to finish.
Oh and this guy makes an appearance as well.
You know, "that guy from every second movie you've ever watched"
David Morse.
That's him.
I'll definitely watch it again and I'm not even gonna bother classing it as a "Guilty Pleasure", as I don't really believe in that anyway.
Either you like a movie or you don't.
If you call it a Guilty Pleasure it just means you're embarassed to tell people that you like it.
